AMREL's eLoad Line of Programmable Electronic Loads Sets New Standards
EL MONTE, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 02/17/2005 -- AMREL/AMERICAN RELIANCE, INC., the leader in affordable, high performance Power Test Equipment, rolls out another industry first with the introduction of the eLoad line of programmable air (PLA) and water-cooled (PLW) electronic loads. The first to offer both closed-case calibration and Ethernet capability, the eLoads are available in a broad range of configurations with operating voltages up to 1200V, current dissipation over 5000 Amps and wattage ratings over 150kW.
The AMREL eLoad is easily calibrated through our front panel. Closed-case calibration design eliminates the need to remove the cover and turn potentiometers, allowing the user to perform the calibration. Eliminating the need to send the unit back to the factory for calibrating decreases down time and reduces cost.
The AMREL eLoad features a unique electrical design that protects the power handling components from failure and excess stress. Each MOSFET is individually protected; therefore, if one MOSFET should fail, the failure does not cascade through additional components. Anti-oscillation detection also protects the load from failures caused by high voltage and current spikes due to oscillation. Protection circuits and limiting routines offer full over power (OPP), over current (OCP), over voltage (OVP), over temperature (OTP) and reverse polarity protection for the load and power supply under test protection. This is another example of the high standard of quality and reliability built into each AMREL power product.
As for control methods, AMREL has it all. Both the PLA and PLW Series of eLoads come standard with analog control, RS-232 and GPIB-488 control. Ethernet and USB options are available and may be installed in the field, providing the end user with greater flexibility. If you need to control multiple loads from a single controller, our Multi-Channel Controller (MCU) can control up to 8 units with a single computer address. It also provides remote front panel control for up to 8 units. AMREL's eLoad are ideal for power supply ATE, burn-in systems, high voltage testing, life-tests and other applications where engineers want to instantly monitor from remote test locations.
The Low Profile Load (LPL) Series of eLoad provides an alternative to applications < 600W. Its 1U high sleek design is ideal for any power test system where space may be an issue. Because of the LPL's cooling design, these loads may be installed one above the other (zero stacked).
From small bench stations to distributed ATE systems, the eLoad line breaks the mold of traditional system architecture and changes the definition of bench top and "rack-and-stack." It lets engineers capitalize on the affordability, flexibility, scalability, fast implementation, ease-of-manageability, and cost savings opportunities
