The US' top 50 "most unwired" cities are...

March 6, 2003, Santa Clara, CA -- (MobileVillage) -- The most unwired city in the United States is… Portland, Oregon, according to Intel's just-released "Most Unwired Cities" survey.

The Portland metropolitan statistical area ranks as the top market for wireless Internet accessibility, outpacing typical trendsetters Los Angeles (No. 13) and New York (No. 23), according to the survey. Portland and its residents are quickly embracing the region's growing number of "hotspots" -- areas where users can tap into wireless fidelity (WiFi) networks -- with their laptop PCs, PDAs and other devices. More than 3,700 hotspots are currently in the United States.

The Intel "Most Unwired Cities" survey was conducted by Bert Sperling, a research analyst well known for compiling Money Magazine's annual "Best Places to Live" feature. The top 50 "Most Unwired Cities" are as follows:
