Working closely with organizations such as iRobot, Schaefer Engineering, Comtech, and SRCTech, AMREL has created fully custom computer systems to serve as control units for both fully automated and operator-controlled robotic and communication systems.

Schaefer Engineering
Our engineering team created a new platform to house our client's radio, which utilizes our patent pending device bay to control the radio hardware on our 13" fully rugged notebook solution.
As a result, the new hardware significantly decreased the signal to noise ratio, allowing the control range of the Robot to extend beyond the client's original distance request. This new configuration also allowed for quick field module replacement if there was ever a hardware failure during an operation. More importantly, AMREL delivered a solid one-piece solution that surpassed the Army's functional requirements.
iRobot
Once again, AMREL's DVD/CD device bay hardware integration played a key role in the success of the project. iRobot had previously been using another rugged system with an external device as their control system, but AMREL quickly provided them with a more effective control system from top-to-bottom. This new system was put through rigorous testing by iRobot and it passed all of them with flying colors.
AMREL not only improved the overall performance of the "Packbot" control system, but also streamlined the production process, allowing iRobot to receive their control systems quicker.
ComTech
ComTech required a fully rugged tablet computer with integrated military grade wiring and connectors to serve as the control system for their field satellite reception system. By adding additional specialized connectors and wiring configurations, AMREL quickly created a successful prototype for ComTech.
System performance tests were soon to follow and the results were striking – so striking that ComTech has now designated this AMREL rugged tablet PC as the standard operating command hardware for their field deployable satellite reception systems.
SRCTec
By creating a spacer device that integrates the radio control hardware inside the actual PDA, AMREL has given SRCTec the power to control their field radar system functions from one handheld PDA without any tethered devices. This custom configuration became more efficient and incredibly convenient for SRCTec field operations.
This new system was tirelessly tested, fully ruggedized, and perfected by AMREL; it is now the standard control system for the SRCTec field deployable radar system, which has actually been deployed in live theaters of battle.
