MIL-STD 810F (Environmental Effects Test)
All of our industrial grade, rugged notebooks, rugged tablets, and rugged PDAs have been certified to MIL-STD 810F. Please reference the details of this testing process below for more information.
Vibration Test
- Composite wheeled vehicle vibration
- MIL-STD 810F, Method 514.5 Category 20
- Test duration is set at 60 minutes along each of three orthogonal axes (total of 180 minutes).
- Helicopter (OH58A/C) vibration
- MIL-STD 810F, Method 514.5 Category 14
- Test duration is set at 60 minutes along each of three orthogonal axes.
- Tracked vehicle (M548) vibration
- MIL-STD 810F, Method 514.3 Category 1
- Test duration is set at 60 minutes along each of three orthogonal axes.
Shock Test
MIL-STD 810F, Method 516.5 Procedure I
- 40G, 11 ms, terminal-peak saw tooth shock pulse, three shocks in each direction should be applied along three orthogonal axes of test item (total 18 shocks).
Low Temperature Test
MIL-STD 810F, Method 502.4 Procedure I & II
- Procedure I (Storage)
- Subjected the unit to temperature of -40F°C (-40°) for 4 hours.
- Procedure II (Operation)
- Subjected the unit to temperature of -20°C (-4°F) for 4 hours.
High Temperature Test
MIL-STD 810F, Method 501.4 Procedure I & II
- Procedure I (Storage)
- Subjected the unit to temperature range of 23~70°C (73~158°F).
- There are 12 hours dwell time of 23°C (73°F) and 12 hours dwell time of 70°C (158°F) in each cycle, 24 hours per cycle, for a total of seven cycles.
- Procedure II (Operation)
- Subjected the unit to temperature range of 23~50°C (73~122°F).
- There are 12 hours dwell time of 23°C (73°F) and 12 hours dwell time of 50°C (122°F) in each cycle, 24 hours per cycle, for a total of three cycles.
Temperature Shock Test
MIL-STD 810F, Method 503.4 Procedure I
Low Pressure (Altitude) Test
MIL-STD 810F, Method 500.4 Procedure I & II
- Procedure I (Storage)
- Low pressure (altitude) test level is 40,000 feet (188 mbar).
- PDAs (DA5-M) only, low pressure (altitude) test level is 70,000 feet (45.0 mbar).
- The rate of altitude does not exceed 10 m/sec.
- Test duration is one hour.
- Procedure II (Operation)
- Low pressure (altitude) test level is 15,000 feet (577 mbar).
- PDAs (DA5-M) only, low pressure (altitude) test level is 40,000 feet (188.2 mbar).
- The rate of altitude does not exceed 10 m/sec.
- Test duration is one hour.
Humidity Test
MIL-STD 810F, Method 507.4 Procedure I
- The relative humidity range is 85~95%, 24 hours cycle, for a total of ten cycles.
Rain Test
MIL-STD 810F, Method 506.4 Procedure II
- Nozzle pressure is not less than 276 Kpa (40 psig or 2.78 Kg/cm²).
- The five surfaces (top, front, rear, left, right) of test item subjected to rainfall.
- The duration of exposure per face is not less than 40 minutes.
Salt Fog Test
MIL-STD 810F, Method 509.4
- Increased temperature to 35°C (95°F) for at least 2 hours before introducing the salt fog.
- The salt fog test conditions are temperature of 35°C and salt concentration of 5± 1%.
- The salt fog fallout rate shall be between 1 and 3 ml/80cm²/hr.
- Exposed test item to a period of 24 hours of salt fog, then followed by a 24 hour drying period at standard ambient temperature and a relative humidity of 50%± 5%.

IEC Test 60529, IP54
IP-5x, Dust-Tight
The dust test required the units to be placed in a 1 m³ dust test chamber and subjected to 2 kg/m³ of Talcum powder. The test duration was 8 hours. After the test, units were fully functional.
IP-x4, Water Spray
The water spray test challenged the unit to withstand 10 minutes of continuous water flow through a 400 mm tube at a rate of 1.8 L/min from 25 different spray nozzles. After the water test, the units were fully functional.
